Enlightenment is a concept that many try to comprehend and others make efforts to describe. The limitations of language and experience often prevent us from fully grasping the concept of enlightenment. One way is to consider Enlightenment as a state of consciousness that is at zero on a balance scale. It is a state in which our consciousness does not incline toward one side or another. It is the perfect balance. This is the basis for describing enlightenment as a zero consciousness or the consciousness of zero. In this balanced state, we can commune with nature and the universe.

Zero is then the "standard" for the state of consciousness of an enlightened person. The question then becomes, if the "standard" is zero for an enlightened person then what is the "standard" on the balance scale for others who have not yet come to experience enlightenment. To understand this analogy further it might be useful to think of the consciousness of an individual as the balance scale. Some people as a result of their experience or tendencies have their scales set at a place which is less than or more than zero. This means that their standard is not zero but may be at five, or ten or whatever.

A balance scale operates by placing things on either pan to measure and weigh. If the consciousness of an individual is measured or compared to a balance, the objects of consciousness can be compared to things we put on the scale pans of the balance. People weigh everything in their life using their respective balance of consciousness. Objects of consciousness are weighed relative to where their balance is set. This means that the objects of consciousness of an enlightened person are weighed relative to a zero setting, which is the standard. Others weigh and measure relative to balance setting other than zero, which is their standard. Again, this is a way of understanding individual consciousness and how balance is impacted by the weight of objects of consciousness relative to the standard.

For example, two people could have the same exact experience of anger yet the impact of their experience will be different. If we take this anger as an object of consciousness and put it on the scale of the person who has a consciousness of zero standard it will be different than the person who puts this same anger on a balance which has a consciousness standard greater than zero, because they use different original standards.

Another way to think of this is to consider the person who weighs him or her self on a scale but sets the scale at less than zero so that they will weigh less. Their standard was less than zero. Another person of the same weight who weighs him of her self with the scale set at zero will show a different weight. They are identical people but their "weight" is different because their standards were different. Using this same example it is interesting to think about the same person who weighs themselves one day at the zero standard and then weighs themselves at the minus ten standard. They are the same person at the same weight regardless of their starting point but they will have a different experience relative to the balance of standard they chose.

The consciousness of an enlightened person is in a state of zero. In this state, there is the ability to feel Yuln'yo the fundamental rhythm of life in the universe where compassion and love flow spontaneously out of the heart. It is not easy to stay in this state, at zero consciousness, living on the Earth in these physical bodies. It is natural and understandable that it is not always possible to remain in an empty and balanced state of zero every moment of every day. We continuously experience emotional responses such as anger sadness, shame, or joy as part of the experience and expression of life. These things become the objects of consciousness which of necessity must be placed on the scales of balance. To live by refusing to put objects of consciousness on the scale of zero consciousness standard would mean to live without experiencing or expressing life. Those who insist that this is the preferable choice would be better off living in seclusion deep in the mountains.

So what is the big deal about enlightenment? What is important is that, while freely putting objects on the balance scale as the occasion demands, the feeling of the state of zero is maintained. It goes without saying that the scale can never return to zero with something on it. Even when some burden is placed on the balance, like suffering from emotional turbulence, the individual is able to remain clearly conscious that the original state is zero and that it is the burden which caused the movement away from zero. Knowing this, it is clear that when finished with the experience of the burden, it is easily removed and there is a return to the original point or standard.

This means that for a person at the consciousness of zero, it is a return to the feeling of Yuln'yo or balance. For the person at the consciousness of other than zero standard it is to return to a state other than Yuln'yo and continued imbalance. The challenge to each of us is to look at ourselves to find out what our respective balance indicates is the starting point. It is from this self-awareness that individuals can move their standard to the consciousness of zero.

When everybody keeps the consciousness of zero. All conflicts and fighting will disappear form the world. If our lives are based on the same balance, we can establish the Culture of Oneness. When there are many who have properly working balances which keep the standard of zero and when the exchange of information and the exchange of materials happens at zero consciousness, we can create the world of peace and harmony that we have been looking forward to for so long. We will no longer have to talk of evolution or revolution of consciousness. We will know that it is only necessary to recover our original state.

Let all of us become balances indicating zero. By becoming reborn as zero consciousness, we will have the consciousness of Earth people and the consciousness of the New Human
